Venue Info

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is an iconic, mid-century modern resort developed by Laurance S. Rockefeller in the 60s. Located on the sunny Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, the Mauna Kea is nestled in the hillside overlooking the spectacular Kauna‘oa Bay, with its turquoise waters and perfect crescent of white sand.

Catamaran sailing, fireside chats, outdoor adventures and curated Hawaii Island experiences make this an atypical conference. Enjoy beach walks, moonlight star gazing, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, SUPing, sipping, surfing, world-class golf, sumptuous spa treatments and fine dining at one of Hawaii’s most legendary resort destinations.

History

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel created an immediate buzz when it opened in 1965. The resort played host to movie stars, movers and shakers. The residential component soon followed, sparking considerable real estate development along the Kohala Coast and a new concept – the residential resort community.

Award-Winning Architecture

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel was awarded an Honor Award in 1967 by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). In 2007, the hotel received honors again from the AIA  as one of the top 150 of its "America's Favorite Architecture" list.

Rockefeller’s Art Collection

A carefully curated art collection fuses Eastern and Western sensibilities in art, philosophy and business. Rockefeller’s legacy is very much alive in this collection of more than a thousand museum-quality pieces sourced from Oceania, Polynesia, India and Asia. The pieces are almost casually displayed throughout the property, accessible to visitors. A pink granite Buddha from a 12th-century temple in southern India is a guest favorite.
